Kealakehe didn’t have time to shake off the rust from more than two weeks off in the first round of the HHSAA Division I state tournament on Tuesday. Campbell opened up a 12-0 lead by the second inning and knocked in three more to come away with a five-inning, 15-0 run-rule victory.

Campbell collected 16 hits and held the Waveriders’ offense to just two. Breianna Mcleod and Kawehi Kahele had hits for Kealakehe.

It was the Waveriders’ first appearance in the HHSAA tournament since 2011.

Kiara Cantiberos took the loss on the mound for the BIIF runner-up ‘Riders, allowing 14 hits.

Cydney Curran and Darien Robinson led the way for Campbell, each knocking in three RBIs. Saber Ace Elisa Favela picked up the win with a two-hit gem, striking out eight.

The Sabers advance to take on No. 2 seed Kamehameha-Kapalama. Kealakehe drops to the consolation bracket, where it will face Kaiser.
